Ribbonstone
The geological structure known as the Ranford Formation is host to many unique stone and crystal forms.
Most of the formation is now submerged under the waters of Lake Argyle.
Ranford Ribbonstone is closley associated with Zebra Stone, having been deposited at the same time 600,000,000 years ago, but its colouration is more varied.
Most deposits are considerably harder than Zebra Stone so that it is more difficult to work by hand.
Rare crystal imprinbts have been found in layers of Ribbonstone.
